Artillery fighting continues with marked intensity inten-sity in the Champngne, the war office announces. French patrols were active ac-tive and brought back prisoners. South of SL Quentin there were heavy artillery artil-lery actions. Tho statement follows: "South of St. Quentin our artillery continued to bombard the German positions. po-sitions. There was no infantry fighting fight-ing during tho night between the Somme and the Oise. Two German attacks were broken up by our fire. "In the Champagne the artillery fighting was very severe. On this part of the front we made numerous reconnaissances, recon-naissances, bringing back prisoners. Chappelotte a German reconnoiterlng party attempted to reach our lines after aft-er a violent bombardment. It was dispersed dis-persed and driven back to the German trenches." |
