| Show BY COUNTY TO THE FARMERS health report discloses several cases of diphtheria and typhoid road improvements to be made from mondays standard the county commissioners met in regular session this morning and on account of the large volume of business brought before the body they are holding a session this afternoon owing to chairman stanford being absent mr wilson again occupied the chair john moore colored a cripple appeared before the board and asked for assistance to go east moore stated that he had just come in from san francisco the application was denied on account of moore not being a resident of the county dr gordon appeared before the board and stated that the family of mrs richard griffin 2173 adams avenue had been quarantined on account of diphtheria he stated that there bad been three cases in all in the family that he had used a good portion of the antitoxin anti toxin provided by the county and that the patients were now nearly ready to be released the doctor further stated that dr osgood had reported one case of diphtheria outside of the city and that dr dackson had one case at Rl verdale both of which had been quarantined two cases of typhoid fever county charge fe were reported as being at the general hospital in this bame connection a communication was received and read from dr joyce aleain calling the attention of the boaro to the case of E E lande who has been at the hospital for some time and who is in indigent circumstances ir the absence of the commissioner of poor the matter was taken under advisement surveyor H J craven appeared and stated that he would ike to obtain from the office of the surveyor general general caspers orf einal field notes of the government survey through ogden canyon so that he might be able to definitely locale the sumner survey the request was granted and mr craven was also riven instructions in regard to the allgai ment of the road in ogden canyon mr madsen reported that he had visited the garland road district in company with road supervisor petterson concerning the matter of erecting water tanks and the purchasing of a sprinkling wagon for that district he stated that it was thought that the wilson irrigation people would permit them to attach a spoilt to their flume in order that when there was a supply of water in the flume they might have its use tor sprinkling the matter of purchasing a sprinkler for the district was referred to mr madsen with power to act tho matter of opening a new road in the warren district was again brought up it appears that W L stewart of warren and T R ocon nolly of ogden filed petitions altti the board at their meeting held july 23 for the opening of the road which leads to the grounds of the lake shore duck club on the following monday a protest was filed by J M skeen commissioners wilson ami madsen during the past week visited warren and plain city and made an inspection of the proposed new road the result of the visit was that the board decided that all parties who are interested as well as those who desire to protest appear before the board at 1030 next monday morning and make their statements on the question the resignation of john P road supervisor of was accepted by the board and james knight was appointed to fill the vacancy mr madsen reported having purchased a quantity of arsenic and stated that the same had been distributed among the owners of property in the western part of the county to be used for the extermination of grasshoppers the written resignation of john watson as a delegate to the irrigation congress was read and accepted the board appointed robert mcfarland of west weber to fill the vacancy N C flygare also submitted his declination to serve as a delegate and george P hunter of west weber was appointed in his stead commissioners wilson and madsen reported that during the trip through the district they found the road oh the hill north of the sugar factory in a very bad condition the road haying been covered with loose gravel making it almost impassable it was decided to ask ogden city tor the loan of the road roller then have the road resurfaced sprinkled and rolled in the hope of getting a solid bed the matter of cost in connection with this improvement was referred to mr madsen tho board then adjourned until this afternoon |
