Show SHOWS GAIN OF PUPILS FOR THIS YEAR board of education meet and name september as day to reopen school from thursdays standard the board of education met yes berday afternoon instead of in the evening as is their custom all members wore present and a number of matters of importance were disposed of A letter from mrs thomas D dee thanking the board for their expressions of sympathy at the death of judge dee was read and ordered to be spread upon the minutes for tho committee on buildings and grounds mr gwilliam reported that the addition on the five points school would be finished tomorrow and that the work on the central school was progressing favorably he also reported on the plans for new out buildings at several ot the schools and recommended that J T newton be awarded the contract for the work which it was estimated would cost the recommendation vas adopted the matter of putting a new floor in the hallway ot the high school was taken up and discussed it was finally decided to rebuild the floor and the committee oh building ordered to look after the matter for the finance committee mr thomas reported that janitors salaries to the amount of had been paid for the supply committee dr conroy reported recommending that reads readers be purchased the report was adopted dr joyce for the teachers committee reported the appointment of the following teachers II 11 S sanell to bo principal of the grammar schools miss abuce allson mrs W H meal miss grace bobbett miss anna christensen Chrls miss ethel green and miss elizabeth charpie the superintendent brought up the matter of the date for the opening of the schools and it was decided to open on the second monday in september september alth at this suggestion it was voted to allow the superintendent of schools to use the high school tor the county examination of teachers to be held on august ath and ath the treasurers treasur ers report was received tor the month of july read and ordered filed treasurers Treasur ers report RECEIPTS july 15 loan from first national bank july 15 amount due treasurer disbursements july ast 1st amount due treasurer july applications for leave of absence were received from miss millie cone and mice catherine costley the applications were granted the report of the school census enumerators was received and accepted the census showed a gain of over the previous year school cen the year 1905 boys girls total gain ward 1 1190 35 ward 2 1012 29 ward 3 1184 1 ward 4 1501 57 ward 5 wa 1345 60 total A number of bills were reported read and allowed after which the board adjourned for one week |
