TRAIL OPEN ON SUNDAY court decides that amusement features have right to run portland august 6 py a decision of circuit judge frazer handed down on saturday july 29 train con cession aries who conduct the amusement features of the lewis and dark exposition were granted the privilege of running their shows on sunday and this will be the rule from now on the decision marked the culmination of a controversy which haa been waged for some weeks between the exposition authorities and the concessionaires sion aires portland people are inclined to look favorably on the idea of an open sunday trail arguing that it theartres theatres the atres and other amusement places are permitted to run the trail kliots should have an equal right since the opening of the trail a number of cheap and in some cases immoral shows have been in the immediate vicinity of the grounds and these have received most of their patronage on sunday every theatre in portland has been running on sunday for borne months the shows on the trail it la argued are clean and wholesome and the public might bettor patronize them than those which operate outside the gates the trail has proved a popular feature of the exposition and will be even better patronized from now on the exposition from the first has favored sunday opening on the grounds that on no other day was it possible tor workingmen and their to visit the fair A sunday admission tea of twenty five cents with children under twelve free haa done much to popularize the exposition on eliat day
