Show Parowan 2nd Ward holds Hawaiian Luau PAROWAN - The Parowan LDS Second Ward had their closing social on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, June 14th, at the Five Mile Recreation Area. The social was organized around a Hawaiian luau, with Bishop Halterman donating a pig to roast. In addition to roast pork, the menu consisted of sweet and sour rice, green beans with almonds, sweet potatoes, fruit salad, coconut, and cake. In addition to the wonderful meal, a program was presented: Dawn Hanks and two of her children performed various songs and dances from Samoa; Brenda Adams and Karla Abbott sang a duet of the Hawaiian Wedding Song and the Relief Society choir entertained with other songs, accompanied by Marie Adams on ukulele. Anna Mecham performed a hula dance, as did five little girls, Dannielle Harris, Heather Harris, Tanica Harris, Chariane Mecham, and Heather Johnson. Table and other decorations were furnished by a committee chaired bv Freddie Clinch and assisted by June Christensen and LaNean Kellogg and consisted con-sisted of live bamboo, sea shells and fruit. The delicious food was prepared by Nevada Adams, Lorna Alger, Maryetta Kogerson, Roberta Leigh, Ardella Rhode, Andrea Harris, Una Mortensen, Betty Brown and Elaine Adams. The social was a big success with about 110 people attending, each greeted with a lei and traditional aloha kiss on the chHk. |
