Show NEW BPW CLUB OFFICERS. BPW install Officers at Dinner Meet By Candace L. Ewing Thirty-five members of the Cedar City Business & Professional Womens' Club met at the Town & Country Restaurant, Wednesday June 14, 1978 for dinner and to take care of a number of important things, one of State Federation, Anna Stark. It is awarded to the club which travels the most miles to attend the State Convention. Our Cedar City Club received twelve Certificates of Achievement as follows: Excellance of Scrap Book, Excellance of Prssbook, 19th at which time we will host members from St. George, Beaver, Milford, and Panguitch at a meal before the performance. June 25th is the deadline to make reservations for the meal and the performance, by contacting Berneice Liebhardt. which was the installation of the new officers for the year 1978-79. President Elizabeth Dewsnup presided and welcomed everyone. In honor of the National President, Piilani C. Desha, of Hawaii, she presented each member of our club with a vanda orchid. Blanche LeBaron was the installing officer for a candle light and emblem service for Berniece Liebhardt, president, Charlotte Boyer, First . vice president, Elizabeth Dewsnup, Second vice president, Bobbie Langford, Recording secretary, Doris Williamson, William-son, Correpsonding secretary, Barbara Cowley, standing in for Marena Palmer, Treasurer. Six members attended the , State Convention which was . held in Salt Lake City. Those making the trip were: Neola Brown, Clara Knell, Leta Cowley, Berneice Liebhardt, Elizabeth Dewsnup, and Karla Hulet. They reported that Karla Hulet was chosen an alternate delegate to the National Convention to be held in Puerto Rico, July 23-27th. 23-27th. Neola Brown brought back the Traveling Gavel which our club won for the third and last time, making it our permanent possession. She explained that the custom of awarding a graveling gavel was instituted in-stituted twelve years ago by the then president of the Newsletters, volunteer services to numerous organizations by members. In this connection Mamie Eck has contributed eight hundred hours to various organizations. Also those who gave hours of service to the Shakespeare Festival are Mary Anker, Leta Cowley, Ora Smith, and Candace Ewing. Other Achievement Awards were for increasing membership by more than three, for concern and interest in IDP, Course 1, Legislative Program, Contribution to the Foundation, Equalizing Membership, Rape Crisis Meeting, and Club Contribution Con-tribution Award. Neola Brown and Leta Cowley served on committees com-mittees at the State Con-vetnion. Con-vetnion. - 4. Included in the Memorial Service were three of our members, Nettie Morris, Merna Hansink, and Lillian Lunt, all of whom passed away with the past year. A number of annual reports were given which included the President's and Treasurer's. The Treasurer's report showed the club finances in good condition and the President's that our membership not only equalized but showed an increase of four new members. Our next meeting will be attending the Shakespeare Festival in a body on July |
