Show lOyearold Mark Johnson presents Piano Recital PACE program for gifted students. I'at Mayer, who wrote the feature article indicated that "he will go on playing the piano for many years to come. Hut what he really expects to be when he grows up is a criminal lawyer!" At the recital the young genius played from four periods of music: baroque, classical, romantic, and contemporary. Included were Bach's "Prelude and Fuge in C. Major," Hayden's "Concertina in C Major," Mozart's "Sonata in A," Bela Uartok's "Bear Dance" and Schumann's "Knight Rupert." He. also played a four handed selection with his teacher and a six handed trio with his sisters 13 year old Kris and 9 year old Melissa. The talented young Mark is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lanell Lunt of Cedar . City. Mark Johnson, the ten year old son of Richard C. and Joanne (Lunt) Johnson of Tempe, Ariz, recently presented a solo piano recital and was featured in an article appearing in the Tempe paper. Not only is young Mark a talented musician, but is also gifted in many other ways. The feature story described him as "a genius in jeans -- a nice kid who happens to have talent and brains -- and parents who have channeled both in the right direction." The story indicated that Mark could grow up to be another Bach -- or maybe a space explorer like Mr. Spock. He's equally at home playing classical music or selections from "Star Wars" on the piano (and if he had his druthers, for a perfect day, he'd like to see that latter move again.)
