Show Vivian Little stresses School Costs "Utah will have to make some serious economies to avoid tax increases and still deal with educational costs in the next ten . years," according to Vivian Little, candidate on the Democratic slate for the Utah House of Representatives. Ms. Little addressed the Cedar City Kiwanis club Wednesday at noon and expressed her views on several issues, including school costs in Utah. "Educational costs account for about 50 percent of all state and local expenditures in Utah", she noted. "There is a projected 25 percent increase in students over the next ten years. Couple this increase with inflation and school costs might be one billion dollars in ten years," she added. "One way to avoid additional taxes to cover school costs would be to recruit and train community com-munity volunteers, under the supervision of school district personnel," Ms. Little suggested. She appeared along with Garth Jones and Burt Eastman, other candidates for the house seat to represent Iron and Kane counties. |
