Show Cedar Sewage lines tested, opening due The project engineer on the new Cedar City sewage treatment treat-ment plant and distribution lines has reported that the return pipelines are now in the ground and are functional. Michael Embley, Cedar City' manager, said the lines were all tested last Friday with water from the Cedar City Cemetery well. Over 140Q gallons of water, per minute were put through the system, "so we at least know it will hold water," he said. Embley said October 15 is the . projected date to begin running water through the plant for treatment. The October 15 date is not a "grand opening," he said, but a date to shoot for to begin production. Lines for sewer effluent sprinkling of Cedar High School and SUSC playing fields and also lines to water Utah Department of Transportation planted trees along 1-15 are also in place and ready to hook up. The final . hookup and inspection of , the ' effluent lines is a minor task, he added, and will be completed before October 15. Embley said costs incurred so i far come to $22 million, with the city having a remaining $300,000 ' to spend. |
