Show Ezra Taft Benson to preside at Cedar West Stake Conference IV V Ezra Taft Benson, member of the Council of the Twelve of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints will be the speaker at the Quarterly Conference of the Cedar City Utah West Stake to be held Saturday and Sunday. Theme of the conference is "Making the Scriptures Important Im-portant in Our Lives and In Our Church Assignments." Special sessions of the conference con-ference will be held Saturday afternoon and evening. General session, to which the public is invited to attend, will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday in the Cedar West Stake Center, according ac-cording to Conrad V. Hatch, Stake President. Saturday's sessions will begin at 3 p.m. with the Stake Presidency; with priesthood leadership meetings lated at 4:30 and 7 p.m. In addition to the general session at 10 a.m. Sunday a High Priests Quorum Meeting is slated for 8 a.m., President Hatch indicated. Elder Benson will be involved in a series of special activities that are being planned around his visit to the southern Utah area. Friday evening Elder Benson will be the guest speaker at a special program sponsored by the Cedar City West Stake Bicentennial Committee. The program will be held at 8 p.m. in the Cedar High School Auditorium. Other stakes, including Cedar City, SUSC and Parowan have been invited to attend. As president of the Council of the Twelve, Benson is the ranking apostle of the LDS Church. He was sustained to this position Dec. 28, 1973, after serving 30 years as a member of the Twelve Appstles. President Benson has served his church and government in many capacities including an eight year term as United States Secretary of Agriculture during the administration of Dwight Eisenhower. |
