Show Lions host fund raising project PAROWAN - The Parowan Lions Club hosted a delicious steak dinner last Saturday evening at the Lions Club Pavillion. The dinner was sponsored as a fund raising project to help finance a proposed Little League Ball Park now in the planning stages. Door prizes were awarded as a part of the evenings festivities. Luella Smith won a Coleman sleeping bag and Laurene Dalley won a water cooler donated by Parowan Trading Center. Ron's Sporting Goods donated a Little League Baseball mitt and this was won by Mike Jones. A drawing was held that evening to culminate another fund raising project and David Orton was the winner of a beef cut and wrapped by Matheson Meats of Parowan. The Little League Committee's request for help with federal funding has been denied and although this was a big disappointment disap-pointment the group plans to go ahead with fund raising in hopes of finding another source of help. The bank account has now reached $1200 with much more help needed. The paper drive is still on and papers can be taken to the Jockey Room at the Race Track or anyone wishing to have appers picked up should call Joan Mortensen. Donations of any size will be warmly welcomed and pledges of labor are also being accepted. |
