Show Anderson attends Medical Confab A southern Utah State College professor will attend a seminar in Omaha, Nebraska, designed to acquaint institutions with the newly rewritten Medical College Admissions Test. Russell D. Anderson, professor of zoology and teacher of a pre-professional pre-professional seminar offered at SUSC, will attend a Medical College Admissions Assessment Program at Creighton Univer-stiy Univer-stiy on December 10. "The MCAT is a required part of the student's application to med school," Dr. Anderson said. The test is nationally administered ad-ministered in April and October. The revised test will now take a day to complete rather than the half day previously required. It will include sections on science knowledge and problems and others on reading and quantitative quan-titative skills analysis. Dr. Anderson reports that the previous test included a vocabulary section which has been dropped. "The vocabulary test really didn't demonstrate the ability of a student to succeed in med school, which is the ultimate goal of the test," he said. "To best help SUSC students apply for medical and dental schools, yearly pre-professional awareness seminars are held to offer exposure to medical aptitude ap-titude and dental aptitude tests," he said. The seminar will be offered winter quarter, he said. |
