Show I FAMILY APRES-SKI SUPPER I One favorite pastime that is enjoyed together by family members is skiing. There's something about the sting of the cold, crisp air and the freedom free-dom of gliding down those powdered sugar slopes that attracts people of till ages to this invigorating sport. A strenuous day of slalom and downhill racing calls for a hearty, warming supper. A wattle supper is the perfect way to end this perfect day the family has spent together. Concord Waffles are served with whipped cream, fruit sauce and crisp bacon. Because Be-cause the fruit sauce is made with convenient concord-grape concord-grape preserves and canned and frozen fruit, it is quick and easy to prepare. Accompany your waffle supper with Grape Berry Nectar, a delicious, hot drink made with flavorful concord-grape concord-grape juice, grape-cranberry juice drink, apricot nectar and pear nectar. Serve this warming warm-ing beverage in mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks and lime slices. The natural fruit sugars of the grape juice will give a quick-energy lift to tired skiers. CONCORD WAFFLES (Makes 6 Servings) 1 can (11 ounces) mandarin orange segments 1 package (10 ounces) frozen mixed fruit, thawed 1 jar (10 ounces) concordgrape preserves 2 tablespoons cornstarch 2 cups pancake mix 2 eggs 2 cups milk (12 cup grape juice may be substituted for part of the milk) B tablespoons melted or liquid shortening 2 cups heavy cream 2 tablespoons sugar Drain fruits, reserving syrup. In saucepan, combine com-bine syrups, grape preserves, pre-serves, and cornstarch. Bring to a boil, stirring until mixture is thickened and smooth. Add fruits. Chill. Combine pancake mix, eggs, milk and liquid shortening in a bowl. Beat with a rotary beater until batter is fairly smooth. Bake in preheated waffle iron until steaming stops. Whip cream with sugar. Force through pastry tube onto waffles. Serve with fruited sauce. Makes 6 servings. GRAPE BERRY NECTAR (Makes 8 Cups) 3 cups concordgrape juice 2 cups grape-cranberry . juice drink 1 can (12 ounces) apricot nectar 1 can (12 ounces) pear nectar Cinnamon sticks Halved lime slices In a medium saucepan, combine grape juice, grape-cranberry drink, apricot nectar, and pear nectar. Heat, stirring occasionally. Serve hot; stir with cinnamon stick. -Garnish each cup with a slice of lime. |
