After being spotted by the Cedar City Police early Monday morning as they were attempting to break into a pop machine located outside a downtown, service station, Lonnie Forbus 23, David DeLong 20, and Aaron D. Sexton 19, all of Cedar City were apprehended and arrested. Further investigation found that the trio had broken into two other pop machines the same evening, Cedar police said. The men were also charged with one count each of third degree burglary for breaking into the offices of Intermountain West Insulation, Cedar, where radio equipment and cash was stolen. Charges were also rendered for two counts of second degree vehicular burglary in which radio and electrical equipment was stolen the same evening, police added. ; All were arraigned before "Judge Christian Ronnow and bail 'set at $2500 each, Chief Douglas Bolton said. All stolen goods except the cash has been recovered, he added. As investigation continued and following a search warrant being obtained, Larry W. Forbus, Cedar City, was charged with receiving stolen property. Police also reported that Wallace J. Smith, Cedar City, is ' presently in Cedar City Jail for the theft of a television from the Color Country Inn, Cedar City, fcjfhith. is. also under $2500 bail, police said. The cause of a fire that blackened the kitchen and front counter area of the Silver Leaf Cafe, South Main, Cedar City is still under investigation, in-vestigation, according to the Cedar City Fire Department. The Fire Department responded with two trucks and about 15 firemen at 10:10 Friday evening. Spokesmen for the department said the blaze was under control in about 30 minutes and was mopped up and watched for several hours. The fire may have started in the basement area of the structure, Cedar Fire Department said, although that, too, is under investigation. An estimation of the damage was not available at press time. |
