The park can be reached by way of Utah Highway 18 between St. George and Veyo or U.S. 91 via Ivins turnoff. The Dixie State Park is a spectacular area of Red and white rock and volcanic lava flows. Hollywood movie makers have recognized the value of the god-given scenery in Snow's Canyon and have used the park for the filming of at least two western epics. Snow's Canyon was named for Erastus Snow, a Mormon pioneer and colonizer who helped organize the Cotton Mission to Utah's Dixie.
