Show Moss cites leadership ability in re-election bid Senator Moss expressed concern over the fact that his two Republican Candidates are taking "pot shots at me in their attempt to win the Republican nomination." The charge that I'm on the wrong committees to represent Utah is not true. The Aerospace industry is one of the biggest employers in the state of Utah and it is fitting that I serve on, as a matter of fact, head up that important committee, he said. "I've worked hard on attempting at-tempting to amend the Clean Air Act and although the amendment attempt has failed in the Senate there is still hope to pass the measure in the House," Senator Moss said. The Clean Air could ultimately get vetoed by the President, he indicated. "I'll continue to press for full employment, fight against inflation in-flation and my position on the budget committee can and will be an instrumental part of that effort," he said. The Senator noted his efforts to retain in part facilities at Zion National Park and following a visit with officials of the Five County Association of Governments Govern-ments indicated that he supported sup-ported a change in the boundary to allow for the development of culinary water rights for the city of Virgin. Regarding Utah's development develop-ment the Senator supported development of the tourist industry in-dustry and the maximum use of energy sources with the state that are damaging. ; "Congress," he stated "has to take some responsibility in reducing inflation. We need new guidelines for our bureaucratic levels government and we must bring back the power to regulate to Congress, and the elected officials," he said. TOUR AREA. Senator Frank E. Present position of leadership in the United States Senate, association with the majority party and the ability to meet the problems facing congress were the points stressed by United States Senator Frank E. Moss (D-Utah) on his swing through southern Utah to meet with party leaders. The Senator, the Democratic party's nomination for re election to the US Senate, met with officials throughout southern Utah and conferred with party members in setting up his campaign for the November election. Senator Moss was in five counties in three days and returned to Washington this week to resume his duties after the August recess. |
