Show Senior Citizens protest utility hike PAROWAN - A large group of senior citizens from Parowan attended the public meeting held in Cedar recently to discuss the laree raise in the cost of electric rates proposed by California Pacific. The group felt that the 50 percent increase plus the 10 percent increase raxuuj invoked in-voked by Parowan City, would place a very heavy burden on many senior citizens who live on limited fixed incomes. The Cedar City meeting heard many protests from this and other groups against the proposed power hike. Some of the Senior Citizens attending the meeting were George and Freddie Clinch, Jean Jones, and John Roothoff. These people gave their views of the increase and stated the problems it would cause them. Some said the only place they could cut down on other expenses would be to eat less, and most are already on limited food budgets. |
