' ' ' Parowan lad recieves 'Duty' award PAROWAN - Gorden Gurr, age 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Gurr was the recepient of a "Duty To God" award, this award was given to Gorden in Sacrament Meeting Sunday in the Parowan Third Ward. The award was presented by Bishop Boyd Mitchell in recognition of the outstanding church record Gorden has had for the past four years, including an attendance record for four years of 75 percent or over. He has been a very active church member and held many offices in his priesthood. He has also been a faithful worker at the church welfare farm. Gorden is very, interested in making fine furniture fur-niture out of wood and is the winner of several awards for his work. He is a member of the stage band at PHS where he plays the trumpet. He is a wrestler and a football player. He is also interested in electronics elec-tronics and attended a ' BYU Seminar on science and electronics. elec-tronics. He has served as president of the Deacons and the Teachers Quorum and has been called to serve as vice president of the Seminary for the coming school year. He is also fulfilling an assignment as a home teacher. |
