Show I Iron County "A better place to live and work" I f I The Utah Association of Counties and I Governor Calvin L. Rampton have cited Iron County, Cedar City, Parowan City and the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce with an award for a "cooperative effort to make Iron County a better place to live and work." The award was given at the 27th Annual State Economic Development Conference, held in the Hotel Utah, Wednesday. The award was entitled "An Award for Cooperative Effort in Economic ? Development." The citation, signed by the Governor, said, "The climate for cooperation in Iron County has existed for many years. It was ' notably demonstrated in the organization of the Iron County Development Corp. in 1964, which raised $80,000 through private subscriptions as seed money." The special presentation mentioned the plants operated by Coleman Company, Morton Metalcraft, Cedar City Products, and Brian Head Corp. as examples of the "Cooperative spirit." "This growth has generated more than 500 new permanent jobs in Iron County," the Association of Counties said. Establishment of new public facilities such as a golf course, schools, hospital, courthouse, retnetion of air service and expansion of airports and the cooperation with SUSC in establishing the Shakespearean Festival were all noted in the prestigious award. |
