Show "Hillside School" groundbreaking ceremonies Groundbreaking ceremonies for "Hillside School," a day-care center to be constructed in Cedar City, were held Saturday. Promotors of the day-care center, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Starr and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Dale Anderson, have formed a corporation cor-poration to develop the center that will vbe designed to accomodate ac-comodate up to 80 children. At the ceremony, attended by the general contractors, Harding Bro. 1 Construction Co., representatives' of the Chamber of Commerce and Cedar City Council; Ralph Starr, president of the corporation, indicated that the day care center is the first to be constructed in the southern Utah area. The Hillside School will be! located at 91 North 1850 West and was so named because of the excellent view provided by the site location. "We will be provided more than baby tending services," Mrs. Starr indicated. It is our hope to develop a strong curriculum for pre-school children, to work toward the identification and providing needs for social services including in-cluding diagnostic and remedial helps and we are already working with Southern Utah State College to provide an intern program with students at the college," she indicated. Initially Mrs. Starr (Barbara) and Mrs. Anderson (Jean) will run the day-care center, "but eventually we anticipate that the school will provide seven new .jobs as well as fill a critical need of the community," it was stated. A representative of the construction con-struction firm indicated that the building to include two stories, will have 4000 square feet of space and, if possible, will be ' ready for occupancy by January 1977. The project is being finance through St. George Savings and Loan supported by the Small Business Administration. Assisting in setting up the program and providing technical assistance was Paul H. Rodet, Industrial Agent assigned to the southern Utah area through the Industrial Services Division of the University of Utah. It is anticipated that the "Hillside School" will enroll youngsters from a minimum of two through five years of age during the school months. During the summer children up to nine years of age will be admitted. "We believe that there is a need for such a service in Cedar City and the surrounding area. The college, the large number of government offices that provide day-care funding, as well as working mothers, etc., should provide enough enrollment to make the facility a workable, much needed service for the area," it was indicated. i tec&tf m v..
