Show Iron County Fair Race Meet PAROWAN - The Iron County Fair race committee has completed com-pleted plans for the meet to be held Saturday and Monday during the Fair. They will write the races Wednesday Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Parowan race track. All horsemen trainers and riders are asked to meet at the track on that evening to enter their horses. Eight races will be written for each day with a feature race on Saturday and the annual Iron County maturity race to be run on Monday. The pony express race will also be run on Monday. Purses will be $250 on the thoroughbred races and $200 on the short races. Alan Stones is the chairman of the Race committee, with Mel Jones and Lin Orton as Committee Com-mittee members. Anyone wishing more information on the entering or the races is asked to call one of the committee. The Iron County Fair horse races draw some of the finest thoroughbreds in Utah and feature a complete rodeo with events interspersed between races. This is the only show in Utah where spectators are treated to a double show horse racing and rodeo for the price of only one. The show is held at the beautiful Parowan Race Track, not only one of the finest tracks in the state it also features green lawns and shade trees and is a lovely place for families to come and enjoy the races together. |
