Show Parowan hosts Utah Symphony PA ROWAN - The beautiful Utah Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to appear in Parown on Friday, Nov. 5, as a feature of the City's Bicentennial Celebration. The concert will be held in the Parowan High School Gymnasium Gym-nasium at 8 o'clock in the evening. Tickets will soon be available for purchase. 1 Parowan will be honored by , the symphonys visit for the first time in many years and it is felt that the event will be very well attended. ' . The Utah Symphonys musical ambassadorship for Utah and the United States has extended to South America, Europe, and England. It continues through the ' orchestras wide ranging recordings of classical and ; contemporary symphony music. X Anton Peterson probably never dreamed of such tours when he conducted Utahs first full orchestra or-chestra in a single concert in the Sale Lake Theater, nor did his successors who kept the musical flame flickering with a seriesf amatuer community orchestras. : Only in the last 30 years (28 of them under the leadership of Maestro Abravanel), have Utahs musicians discovered ' hk aura and awesome responsibilities of International prominence. Utah lias abounded in musical talent with people and the orchestra has indeed, gained wjdrld wide fame. The symphoijys quality has attracted such great quest artists as pianist Vlademer Horwitz, tenor Jan Pearce and violinist Joscha Heifetz. The symphonys number of concerts increased from 26 in 1949 - 50 to 170 in 1974-75. ' Two of the symphonys greatest triumphs came overseas. A 1966 performance in the Athens (festival in Greece and a concert In La Paz Bolivia in the midst of that countrie's greatest political upheavel in years. Praise from those who heard the performances per-formances continues. A dream fermented by thousands of musicians and patrons collected in 1945 by then symphony presidents Fred E. Smth and Mrs. John M. Wallace and a group of Utah artists pours forth each season in a musical cascade that flows through the intermountain west and the nation and the world. Parowan will be highly honored by the visit from the symphony. Everyone is asked to purchase their tickets early and support this outstanding event. |
