Show Orrin Hatch supports Medicaid investigation Orrin Hatch, Republican candidate for the United States Senate, today announced his support of Senator Moss' investigation in-vestigation of the "Medicaid mills" that are being operated in New York, California, New Jersey, and Michigan. "The efforts of Senator Moss to uncover the widespread. abuses of this Federal program are commendable," said Hatch. Mr. Hatch criticized the "wholesale mismanagement of the Federal Medicaid and Medicare programs" and encouraged en-couraged the continued "systematic investigation of fraud and corruption" on the federal, state, and municipal levels. "The people of the state of Utah have to share the tax burden for a federal program that has just gotten out of control," con-trol," said Hatch, "the Democrats in Congress continue to pass social legislation with the same problems that are inherent to Medicaid and Medicare. Without some method of strict accountability contained within the statute that authorizes the creation of a new program, we will continue to have a legacy of fraud and abuse of federal programs," Hatch continued. Hatch said, "the saddest part of the investigation, aside from the tremendous loss of our tax dollars, is the incredibly low quality of the medial care that is being given to the welfare patients who have nowhere else to go. They are captives of a social program that makes them guinea pigs for profiteers running run-ning the clinics. "We must rethink the choice of providing everything for everybody when the free enterprise en-terprise system has demonstrated demon-strated a superior capability to accomplish the same goal with more efficiency," |
