Show Parowan police have busy weekend PAROWAN Friday evening Sept. 3 Highway patrolman Billie Hunt, assisted by officer James Broadwell arrested Thomas F. Butler of Salt Lak e City for drunk driving. He was taken to the Parowan Police Department for a breathalyzer test. The results showed a blood alcohol content of 0.11 percent. Butler was cited for D.U.I, and released on payment of $250 cash bail. Saturday Sept. 4, Officer Billie Hunt, assisted by the Parowan Police Department and Iron County Sheriffs officers arrested three subjects as they left Parowan. Two of the men arrested were charged with drunk driving and the third with public intoxication. Charged were David Cramer and William Harrison of Cedar City, and Randy Dennis also of Cedar City. Dennis was charged with nuhiip intmfirAtinn. All three were transported to Iron County Cedar City Jail for Breathalizer tests. Cramer tested at blood alcohol 2.0 percent, Dennis 2.7 percent and Harrison at 1.7 percent. All were incarcerated in the jail pending bail. Sunday evening a traffic accident ac-cident was reported in Parowan involving two 18 year olds. Conell Orton and Julie Bentley. The Orton vehicle which was owned by Al's Bug Hut was northbound in the lane next to the center line where he stopped to make a left turn.. The Bentley car, a 1974 Ford Toreno was also north bound and struck the Orton car in the rear. Three passengers in the Orton car and one in the Bentley car were uninjured. Miss Bentley was cited for driving at a speed too fast for the conditions present On Sept. 6, Officer James Broadwell arrested a 17 year old juvanile from Cedar City and, charged him with public intoxication. in-toxication. The youth used false identification at first and insisted he was 20 years old, then it was discovered he was only 17. He was released into his parents custody. The Parowan City Police Dept. would like to remind residents that school is now in session and everyone should be mindful of the fact that children are now crossing the streets more and motorists should use extreme caution while driving near there. Radar has been in use for several days to apprehend violators, but voluntary com pliance is being asked for in an effort to safeguard young lives. Mrs. Andrea Harris is now serving as the school crossing guard until a permanent appointment ap-pointment can be made. |
