Show Parowan Canyon Road Work ToGetUnderWay Work is expected to get under way again for the third year on the final three and a fraction miles of the road through Parowan Paro-wan lAain Canyon to complete the road from Parowan to Cedar Breaks National Monument, we learn from District Road Engineer Engi-neer John Homer. Mr. Homer reports that he and representatives of the L. A. Young Construction Co. which has the contract to build that piece of highway, made a trip over the road recently and that it was still too wet and muddy to get onto at that time, but that the contracting firm intended to bring in a gravel washing machine ma-chine to prepare gravel for the remaining capping to be clone on the project. The contractors have had difficulty dif-ficulty to obtain gravel for the project and that which is available avail-able has too much fines In following fol-lowing crushing and the washing plant will be installed to overcome over-come this obstacle. Mr. Homer Informs us that there Is some grading yet to be done on the road bed and that I '.here has to be a nine-inch gray-el gray-el cap liid over the graded road bed. Four and one-half inches inch-es of this capping gravel has been placed on the lower end of the road, but the entire nine inches is still to be placed on the upper section of slightly less than three miles. Following this an oil tack coat is to be placed on the road and then sealed, after which the road will receive Its bituminous surfacing. sur-facing. Mr. Homer states that although the road Is open for travel and can be traveled from the Cedar Breaks end this way in any weather, it might be difficult to get over going toward the Breaks as long as it stays wet and muddy. |
