Show AT REGULAR SESSION Co. School Board Adopts Budget, Acts on List of Routine Matters A series of routine matters were acted UDon by the Iron County School Board In regular session held Monday at the offices of-fices in Cedar City. A hearing on the budget for the year was held in connection with the meeting and no one was in attendance, it was reported. report-ed. Following the hearing the budget, which wil lbe detailed in next week's issue of the Record, was passed. In other matters tiie board took the following action: Authorized the Cedar High Band, under the direction of Harold Har-old Boyce, to participate in the Days of '47 parade to be held In Salt Lake City. The band was given a special invitation ' to march in the annual parade. Authorized the calling for bids for auditorium seating at the new high school. Bids will be called through the architect firm of Gardner and Rasmussen and will be opened in the school board office on June 28 at 6:30 p. m. Authorized the purchase of a 2000 gallon gasoline tank to be installed at the district garages at Cedar City. Accepted the resignation of Thomas Abplanalp, director of curriculum tor the district. Mr. Abplanalp has accepted a position posi-tion as superintendent of schools in the Duchesne County School District. Heard a request from College of Southern Utah for the dlsirlct to utilize IBM equipment now being rented by the college for payroll purposes and for future child accounting. The board authorized au-thorized the district to work out an agreement for the utilization of the equipment for payroll in August if satisfactory arrangements arrange-ments could be made- on the share of rental costs. Authorized the preparation of a call for bids fer coal, milk, gasoline and for fleet insurance. Official call will be published at a later date, according to Howard How-ard Dalley, Clerk. Consideration was also given at the meeting to action that should be taken relative to the incident of a bus driver to the Newcastle area who was struck and injured by students. The board approved a motion that charges be filed against the students, stu-dents, however, they were advised ad-vised by legal counsel that under the laws of the state, the board did not have the right to file action, that any complaint would have to BeTlled by juvenlle'au-thorltles juvenlle'au-thorltles following the investigation investi-gation which is now under way. |
