Show CSU Marching Band ! To Perform at Compton Homecoming ! The high-stepping College of Southern Utah band is busy I packing instruments and reading California road maps this week as its members prepare for a trip to the sunny southland. Directo;-Van Directo;-Van Bushnell will direct his nev 47-piece marching band in a hall time performance at the CSU and Compton football game Compton, Calif. Saturday. The band has earned many plaudits for its marching, playing play-ing and maneuvering for the past seven weeks at CSU. They appear in their new dark blue and grey uniforms for the first time in the Homecoming parade Oct. 29 and they performed during half-time half-time of the football game. The California trip is the re sult of nearly a year of planning plan-ning by Mr. Bushnell and band officers. The group has sponsored sponsor-ed a bake sale, a concert and similar projects to earn money for the trip. A group of the bandsmen are also members of the dance orchestra on campus and they have played two campus cam-pus dance engagements to earn additional funds. The band will visit Marineland, Disneyland and be special guests of the, Compton College at a reception re-ception before returning to Cedar City Sunday evening, Nov. 20. Drum major is Meredith Johnson, John-son, Fort Bidwell, Calif, and majorette ma-jorette Is Ann Sherratt, Cedar. City. |
