Show Girl Scout Council Fund Drive to Begin in Cedar City First drive for finances of the Utah Council of Girl Scouts and for the eight Girl Scout Troops In Cedar City will get underway this week end, according to Dub Leigh, finance chairman. Cedar City Ladies of Elks have sponsored for the past year e Girl Scout program. Over 100 girls are registered in the program pro-gram at the present time In eight separate troops, six of which are i currently active. I This has been what is known as a "Lone Troop" and has been affiliated only with the Girl Scouts of America, the national organization. I Similar organizations are springing up throughout the state and efforts are now being made to organize the Utah Council Coun-cil of Girl Scouts, which would function similar to the Council for the Boy Scouts, Leigh stated. Efforts are now being made to finance this organization money has already been raised in northern Utah as a part of the United Fund campaign and help is needed for the Cedar City troops as well. j i At a recent meeting held in Cedar City a finance organization was formulated in Cedar City following a visitation from representatives re-presentatives from northern Utah. Chairman of this committee is Mr. Leigh. Rcta Esplin is serving as a representative from the sponsoring Ladles of Elks; Father E. R. Harmon is treasurer, and (Mrs. Francis Holyoak Is secretary. Committee Is asking the cooperation coop-eration of businesses and individuals indi-viduals in this finance drive. |
