Show School Board Members Tackle Agenda Items Steps were taken by the Iron County School Board in regular meeting Monday to begin actual preparation of plans for a new high school building in Cedar City. Following a discussion of the education specifications approved by the board, the architects, Gardner and Rasmussen of Cedar City, were authorized to prepare preliminary sketches for presentation presen-tation to the Board at its regular December meeting. It is hoped that detailed plans can to completed com-pleted in time to call for bids on the new structure sometime early in the fall of 196L The board opened bids for furnishing furn-ishing and installing new windows win-dows In the old West Elementary school building now being used by the Junior High School. Contractors Con-tractors were asked to bid on either aluminum or steel frames, and the bid of Blackburn and Cower for furnishing and installing install-ing steel windows was accepted. The bid was for $17,193.00. The firm submitted a bid of $17,504.00 for aluminum. Two other bids were received, one from S. A. Roberts and Co., Salt Lake City, for $26,293.00, and one by Weyer Construction Co., for $34,475.00. The Roberts bid was for aluminium and the Weyer bid was for either aluminum alum-inum or steel. Approval was given to offer a 1945 school bus for sale. A call for bids may be found on another page of this issue of the Iron County Record. Permission was granted Thales Brown, Agricultural instructor at Parowan High School, to attend an American Vocational Associa-lion Associa-lion Conference in Los Angeles Dec 4th through 9th. Gene Helland, Music instructor in Cedar Junior and Senior High Hay Music Fellowship, and the board granted him a year's leave 'of absence in the event he re-l re-l eclves the fellowship. It was announced that the State School Board Convention will be held in Bountiful on November No-vember 18, and that most of the members of the local board will attend. |
