Show Program Adopted by Committee Cedar City Beautification Committee Com-mittee of the Coordinating Council Coun-cil has set up a sctIos of five projects to be undertaken n the near future, according to Mrs. Giles Bolander, chairman. Five projects to be considered Include: 1. An attempt to stop the "litter "lit-ter Lus" on the highway from the city to the garbage dump. 2. Encourage people to use proper pro-per garbage cans rather than boxes and bags. 3. Encourage keeping clean lots. Committee pointed out that some lots become fire hazards. It was felt by the organization that these lots could be inspected by the fire department and Individuals Individ-uals made riware that it means, in many cases, higher fire insurance. insur-ance. 4. Encourage home owners to keep their driveways and sidewalks side-walks free from snow, making it easier for everyone passing, as well as a convenience for men on service calls, postmen, etc. 5. Make Highway 91 a part of the "Blue Star Highway" by keeping it free from litter. In addition to these projects the committee also suggested to land owners that the fall leaves that are still on the ground, might be utilized more affectively affec-tively by preparing them for compost rather than burning. The compost could then be utilized in the spring and summer to help in growing for beautification around the home. The committee extended a special spe-cial tribute to Mrs. Lucretia Ash- croft for her personal efforts in helping with beautification on I the College of Southern Utah (Campus as well as the Secondc Eighth Ward chapel. For many-years many-years Mrs. Ashcroft has taken upon herself a project of planting plant-ing flowers around the CSU Science Sci-ence Building and between the (walk and the building. She has also been responsible for the planting and upkeep of flowers surrounding the chapel of the Second and Eighth ward. This effort in enhancing the beauty of these public buildings goes a long way in the overall beautification of the city, Mrs. Bolander pointed out. |
