Show Over One Hundred Bulls Consigned To Auction ' Cedar City could well become' the site of one of the largest auctions auc-tions of purebred Hereford Bulls' in the Intermountain West. j That is the hope of the Utah Hereford Association and of the Iron County Cattlemen's Association Associa-tion who are cooperating this year to stage a Utah Hereford sale In Cedar City on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 5 and 6. ! Facilities of tc Southwest I Livestock Bar, will be used for this sale and breeders from throughout the state of Utah from St. George on the south to, Tremonton on the north will I consign some of the top Hereford breeding stork In the west to the sale and an extensive advertising ad-vertising program has been undertaken un-dertaken to Interest prospective buyers from throughout the west.' Producers of top quality Here-fords Here-fords in Utah have for years been taking their prize bulls out-of-state, to Nevada, Arizona, and. California, to sell them and have won top honors In a number of top sales. This year the Utah Hereford , paint t tnt) nf'lHals dcMnrt to ' attempt to develop an outstanding outstand-ing iM-ieiord Bull sale in Utah 'and brin potential buyers into; the state, rather than take the ton bulls raised in the state to' other sales. Because of the outstanding facilities fac-ilities provided by the Livestock I Barn, Cedar City was selected as the site for this sale, which It Is hoped will become an annual event I The ICCA have called a work day at the Livestock Barn for Tuesday, Nov. 22 to get the building build-ing in readiness for the Hereford Here-ford Bull Sale. All members of the association have been urged to attend. At the present time 107 top hulls from throughout the state have been consigned to the sale. A strict sifting committee composed com-posed of E.- S. Gardner of St. George, Waldon Isom of Cedar City and Don W. Thomas, veterinarian veter-inarian for the Utah Extension Service, has been selected which will allow only top grade animals ani-mals into the sale. On Monday evening December 5 a banquet will be staged at Hotel El Escalante by the Iron. County Cattlemen's Association. All persons connected with the Hereford Sale will be invited asi special guests for the evening. The banquet will also be the annual an-nual meeting of the Iron County group. Entertainment for the two-day event is under the direction of a committee composed of Richard Rich-ard Leigh, Kumen Gardner of the ICCA and Milt Joilcy of the Chamber of Commerce. It was also pointed out by officials of-ficials of the sale that arrangements arrange-ments for proper heating of the bulldlnr? have boon made. Howard Brown of California has been procured as auctioneer for the event; Harry Parker of California has been announced as the judge and George Henderson Hender-son of Logan will do the grading. Entries in the sale are expected expect-ed to begin arriving in Cedar City on Saturday, Dec. 3. |
