Show Popular Singers Fill Opera "Faust" Roles The College of Southern Utahi music department will offer the ipera "Faust" on Dec. 1, 2 and! 3. Singing the leading roles willT be favorites of the southern Utant i'rea as well as students at the--ollege. These will include: Wallace Wal-lace Adams, Janice Olson, Kent Myers, LcRay McAllister, David' Williams, Cynthia Williams. Annt-Sherratt, Annt-Sherratt, Sharon Dalton, Bemett : Baldwin, John Griffin, Chad Thorderson, Julia Bog,h Pat Frame and Judy Jensen, All roles are double-cast except ex-cept the role of Mephistopitolesv which is played by Mr. McAllister. McAllis-ter. The story of Faust concerns itself with a man selling hte soul to Satan in exchange far his youth. The youth, Faust, falls: in love with a village girL leaven her to her fate after she strangles her illegitimate child. However, the girl, Marguerite, is redeemeof and Satan taxes Faust ou u yut-gatory. yut-gatory. Five beautiful sets have been designed by Dawn Hunter of Cedar Ce-dar City, and they are being builC by Franklin Jones and Frank Adams. The production this year Is m part of a long series of distinguished disting-uished offerings in the fine arts; produced at CSU. Production is under the direction direc-tion of Dr. Blaine Johnson and Prof. R. L. Halversen. |
