Show City Fire Department Gets Flood Of Calls During Week Cedar City Volunteer Fire Department De-partment has been called out on three different occasions this jweek, it was reported by Frank .Goddard, station attendent. Sunday evening. Feb. 4 the de-' de-' partment was called to the West side of town on a false alarm and two other calls Monday, Feb. 5 were for brush and weed fires. Sunday's1 false alarm was blamed on youngsters playing a prank, although no one has been implicated. Monday's two calls resulted in no loss of property, mainly because be-cause of the action of those who turned in the alarms, Goddard said. The first was Monday forenoon fore-noon at the corne- of College Avenue and 100 West street to control a weed and brush fire started by children between the residences of Rube Winterrose and C. R. Hunter. Monday evening the department depart-ment was called to the north end of town on Highway 91 just south of Hunt's Service station to punt under control another brush fire that had been started to clear irrigaion ditches. When prevailing winds came up that put the service station in Jeop ardy the department was called t extinguish the flames. |
