Show Grade School Students Learn Instruments Answering a critic of America's economic system, Jeff Williams, the Oklahoma humorist and philosopher, remarked that any country that gave Cadillac cars as booby prizes was good enough for him. The second grades of the Cedar City East Elementary finished an Interesting study of the "Musical Families" this week when Professor Pro-fessor Roy L. Halversen, head of the department of music at the College of Southern Utah Introduced In-troduced to the group the "String Instrument Family." Children of Mrs. La Van Bauer's and Miss Connie Joseph's second sec-ond grades had previous been introduced in-troduced to the woodwind and brass, family and the percussion family by Eugene Helland director direc-tor of the Cedar City High School band. The students have very muchj enjoyed learning of the bands, orchestras and the instruments and expressed their appreciation to HeUand and Halversen for taking tak-ing the time to introduce the various Instrument families to them. Tuesday's visit by Prof. Halversen Hal-versen on the "String Instrument Instru-ment Family" concluded the studies of the "Musical Families." Fam-ilies." Helland and Halversen brought Instruments representing the various sections and played them for the students.
