Show Planning Commission Proposal Rejected by Council Recommendations made by the Cedar City Planning Commission that a small industrial area in a rapidly expanding residential area be rezoned, was rejected by the City Council at its meeting Thursday. The property involved Is a small area owned by Woodrow Jansen and located on East Center Cen-ter street. It was orginally in a residential area, and several years ago was rezoned for Industrial Indus-trial use upon plea of Mr. Jansen Jan-sen and his supporters that he would suffer financial loss if he could not continue to operate a machine shop that he had established es-tablished on the property. Mr. Jansen has been living In northern Utah for some time and the property has not been used for Industrial purposes during dur-ing that time. Also during the same period considerable residential resi-dential development has taken place. In view of this situation the planning commission recommended recom-mended that the small, special area be rezoned to Its originaj status. However, when the hearing was held Thursday night Mr. Jansen appeared with a number of supporters, sup-porters, among them several close neighbors, to protest the change, so the council rejected the proposal. |
