Show I College T-Birds to Meet Weber Sat. College of Southern Utah football foot-ball squad will play their final game of the 1961 season Saturday Satur-day afternoon at Thunderbird stadium against the always tough Weber Wildcats of Ogden. Kickoff time has been sot for 2 p. m. For 12 members of the Thun-derbird Thun-derbird squad, it will be their final appearance in the torquoise and coral colors and they will be fitrhtinc desncratelv to end up the season on a note of victory vic-tory after suffering six losses and a tie in other games this season. Not only will it be the final game of the season for the sophomore soph-omore members of the CSU squad but the content will mark the end of a long-time football relationship re-lationship with Weber college, who next year will move out of the ranks of the junior college into a full four year program. For the Thunderblrds they will be looking for a win to salvage some pride in the current season. sea-son. For Weber, they will be attempting at-tempting to leave the competition competi-tion with the College of Southern South-ern Utah on a note of victory. Although Weber has the better record of the two clubs, the comparative com-parative score indicate that the CSU Thunderblrds have an outside out-side channe of pulling this one out of the fire. A few breaks i that have gone against the T- Birds all season, just might fall in their direction this week end to pull an upset victory over the visiting Wildcats. The T-Birds tied with Snow College this season and last week the Wildcats managed to pull a slim victory out of the fire against the Badgers at Ephralm. CSU was defeated by Ricks College this season in a game that very well could have gone to the Thunderbirds. and Weber ended up in a tie with this team. All in all the contest could be one of the best of the season for home fans and it will be the , final apprarance at home or on the road for the Thunderbirds. i i and who holds the trophy in his particular division of the Maxle Dosof's World "Endurance Classic; Clas-sic; Cliff Abe, a 180 average bowler; Lynn Kano, with a 192 average and who holds a victory over Buzz Fazio in a head-on match by a 215 to 191 count and finally, Steve Davles, with a 189 average. Appearing with the Cedar City All-Stars will be Leigh Rosenberg, Rosen-berg, with a 181 average and the only Iron County Bowling Association As-sociation members to hit a 700 series in league play. Other members of the team will In- I' dude Gordon Twitchell, with a 181 average and the second high league series in Cedar City with i a 686; Walt Atkinson, 184 aver-i aver-i age; Kent Dover, 182 average, and Tommy Klrtley, who carries ! a 181 average. i Members of the squad who will be seeing action for the I final time as members of the T-Bird T-Bird team are Karl Worthlngton, Keith Roberts. Charles Bell, Kurl 1 Braithwaite, Jim Marshall, Dennis Den-nis Peck, Darrell Reeves, Cardon Dalley, Bob Homer, Ken Mackey, Jim Allen and Karl Ingram. |
