This happened this past week as a group of five hunters from Cedar City attempted Sunday to fill out their pheasant allotments. allot-ments. The group consisted of Don Clark, Bryant Petty, Derrel Petty, Ronald Clark and Barry Ford. They were hunting In Cedar Valley near Webster's hill, adjacent ad-jacent to the Richard Williams Derrel 1 Petty and Barry Ford. Standing is Ronald Clark. The cougar was killed near Webster's Hill in Cedar Valley. 1 farm. The cougar was spotted in a culvert along side of Highway 91. Don Clark spotted the cougar, cou-gar, which turned out to be approximately ap-proximately 80 inches long from the tip of his tail to his nose, he turned his shot gun on the animal ani-mal and it fled out the other end of the culwrt. On the other side was Darrel Petty with his shot gun and as the stunned cougar came out and attempted to crawl up the bank Derrel turned his shot gun loose and knocked it back Into the ditch. Meanwhile Don had gotten his rifle from the car and finished the cougar off. Cougars in deer season, yes, but cougars In pheasant season this just doesnt happen - but It did. |
