Show Young Designer Wins Trip to Paris For Fashion Ensemble Mary Jean Barnard, 20, daughter daugh-ter of O. H. and Mary Palmer Barnard, owners of the Mary Palmer Dress Shop in Cedar City, Friday won a trip to Paris and $1,000 as grand prize winner in a national sewing and style contest con-test held In New York City. Miss Barnard won top honors from 15 finalists in the 1961 Young Stylemaker contest sponsored spon-sored by Singer Sewing Machine ; Co. Her winning ensemble was a suit and coat. The black wool suit featured a collarless neckline, neck-line, sclf-but'ons and a slot detail de-tail at the Jacket hem. Total outfit out-fit cost about $19.00 which In cluded a three-quarter length coat of black and white plaid wool. She won her position as a sewing sew-ing finalist In the New York area while attending Parsons School of Design last summer. Miss Barnard Is a Junior at th University of Utah. |
