Show Republicans Sweep Into City Offices In Tuesday's Voting in Parowan PAROWAN In an election in which little interest was shown by the residents of the community, commu-nity, the Republican candidates for Parowan City offices rolled up fairly easy victories in the voting Tuesday. And with the lack of interest the turn out to the polls was much smaller than it should have been. Osmer K. Nielsen, Republican, polled 362 votes to win from F. C. Van Buren, his Democratic opponent, op-ponent, who got 229 votes. Nielsen rolled up substantial leads In Voting District 1 and 3 and had a small margin in District No. 2. Present councilman Morris Ras-mussen, Ras-mussen, Republican, was the next best vote getter, polling a total of 334 votes. He "was followed fol-lowed by Bryce Adams, Republican Republi-can with 309 votes, to make it a sweep for the Republican party. Lowell Caldwell ran strongest on the Democratic ticket, getting 276 votes and Glen Haltermon was second high democrat with 263 votes. At that Caldwell only trailed Adams by 33 votes and Halter-man Halter-man missed out by 46 votes. Unofficial results by voting districts dis-tricts were as follows: For Mayor: O. K. Voting District No. 2 was the bright spot for the Democratic Democra-tic candidates, with both Caldwell Cald-well and Halterman coming out ahead of Adams by seven and one votes, respectively in that district. |
