Show Funeral Services Held for John A. Davenport Funeral services were held in Parowan Third Ward chapel on Monday at 2 p. m. for John Alvin Davenport, 81, Parowan native, who has been a resident of Springville for several years. Mr. Davenport died at a Provo hospital hos-pital last Thursday. .The servi- were conducted by Bishop Charles II. Gurr with Itha Mortensen at the organ for prelude and postlude music. The speakers were Mrs. Barbara M. Adams, Ancil J. Adams and Pres. i Howard D. Knight. I The family prayer preceding ' the services was offered by My- I ron Jones of Enoch; the invocation invoca-tion was offered by George W. Jones, the benediction was by Gerald Henderson and the grave, in the Parowan City cemetery, was dedicated by Stanley Smith, former bishop of the Enoch ward who now lives In Bountiful. Musical numbers were two songs by a ladies trio consisting of Ramona and Elna Stubbs and Shirley Evans with Mrs. Morten- jsen at the piano, and a vocal solo by Mrs. Grace Smith, Bountiful. The trio sang "The Lord's Prayer," Pray-er," and "Abide With Me," and Mrs. Smith sang an old version of "Jesus Lover of My Soul," to the music of "Darling I Am Growing Old," accompanying herself on the piano. Mr. Davenport was born in Parowan, Dec. 25, 1879, a son of John and Helen Miller Davenport. Daven-port. He married Ida Jones June 6, 1911 in the St. George LDS temple. Following their marriage they lived in Parowan and Cedar Ce-dar City and moved to Springville Spring-ville 16 years ago. He was a farmer far-mer in his early life and also worked for the U.S. Steel Co. Survivors include his widow of Springville; two sons and one daughter, Clynn and J. Harvey Davenport, Santa Monica, Calif.; Mrs. Cleon (Helen) Chatwin, Mil- ford, Utah; 16 grandchildren; II great-grandchildren; two sisters, I Mrs. John T. Mickelson, Parowan Paro-wan and Mrs. Myron Jones, of Enoch. |
