Show Proclamation by the Governor of Utah WIIEREAS, the war in Korea has left that country devastated de-vastated and caused untold suffering among the civilian populace, many of whom are without adequate food, clothing, cloth-ing, shelter and medical care, and WHEREAS, the desperate plight of the Korean people peo-ple has so motivated American fighting men in that country coun-try that they have voluntarily contributed over $13 million mil-lion to assist these unfortunate people. WHEREAS, it is in keeping with the finest traditions in this country for our citizens to contribute to worthy causes and assist the fellow men who have met with adversity ad-versity through disasters of one kind or another, and WHEREAS, a National drive under auspices of the American-Korean Foundation has been organized to collect col-lect at least five million dollars to aid the Korean people in their desperate hour of need, NOW, therefore I, J. Bracken Lee, Governor of the State of Utah, recognizing the enormity of this problem, do hereby proclaim the period of June 7 to 14, 1953, as: |
