Show Orval Haf en Honored As 30th Legislature's Outstanding Member j "l ' - rtv - ' ' ' I ".' 'e - : isWsf t f ' f - ; h "Orval Hafen, chosen as the outstanding member of the senate sen-ate of the 30th Utah Legislature 1953" was the inscription on a plaque presented to Mr. Hafen, representing Iron and Washington Washing-ton counties, by the Young Republic Re-public League of Utah. Mr. Hafen who completed his first session of the legislature as a senator of the 11th Senatorial district was chosen as the outstanding out-standing senator by a committee of reporters. The committee consisted con-sisted of representatives of the Utah State Press Association and two reporters from the two daily papers in Salt Lake City. Responding to a call from the Young Republican league to appear ap-pear at a banquet in Salt Lake City Mr. Hafen was awarded the plaque for his activities in the past legislative session. Mr. Ha- fen participated actively in supporting, sup-porting, opposing or sponsoring bills throughout the session in such manner as to make him the outstanding senator, in the opinion of the committee. |
