Show Mrs. Heyborne Gets Letter Describing Recent Texas Tornado An eye witness account of the recent tornado In Texas was given gi-ven this week by Mrs. Mae Beat-ty. Beat-ty. of Elm Mott, Texas, in a letter let-ter to her sister, Mrs. Mary B. Heyborne in Cedar City. In commenting on the tornado, which struck heaviest in Waco, which is only a very short dis-i tance from Elm Mott, Mrs. Beat-ty Beat-ty said: "It was terrible, and I have never seen such destruction destruc-tion before. The public is not allowed in the business part of the town where the people were killed, but I have seen part of the residential area where there was nothing left of houses except ex-cept floors. It was headed our way, but raised and as it passed over us it sounded like a freight train in the air. In one furniture store 22 employees were killed." Mrs. Beatty also made a few comments about dry weather that should interest local people. peo-ple. She stated that the winter had been mild and that the past two summers had been so dry that wells had dried up and it had become necessary to haul water for culinary and dairy use. She made the following comment, com-ment, however: "In addition to! the tornado last week we had better than 10 Inches of rain, so' I don't think we need worry about our well going dry for a long time."
