Show Six Softball Teams Ready for League Play Wind, rain and dust hasn't been able to stop softball practice prac-tice for the six teams that will participate in the Cedar City soft-ball soft-ball league this year. According to Dee Cowan, secretary of the local organization, all of the teams have been spending at least two nights a week on the municipal fields in preparation for the season opening May 8. Six teams, four being entered by the two mining concerns west of Cedar City, have filed entrance en-trance rosters and begun extensive exten-sive practice sessions for the popular pop-ular league play. Season tickets are now on sale and families are advised to purchase pur-chase the $2.50 ducat that amounts to just a few cents per game per family. Outstanding pitchers of the area including such favorites as Yorke Nelson, George Stursneg-ger, Stursneg-ger, Mel Reeves, Keith Staheli, Kay Boulter and a newcomer, Vern Hill will be fighting it out for league honors from the word go and a tight, interesting race is promised local fans. |
