Utah Power .... 0 1 .000 Two games have been played in the Cedar City Pony league during the past week. Utah Parks and Utah Construction tangled last Thursday evening and the Construction crew took the measure mea-sure of the Parks nine to the tune of 12 to 7. Tuesday evening, however, the two teams met again and the Parks got revenge by downing the Construction crew 17 to 12. Other games of the week, scheduled for Friday evening, were rained out. Southern Utah Power and Utah Construction played one inning, it is understood, under-stood, before the game was called call-ed because of rain. In the first game between the Parks and Construction, Ray Endsley and Sheldon Sargent combined three innings apiece on the mound to down the Parks. The Parks, although they out-hit out-hit the miners, committed eight errors compared to one for the Construction team. Bevan Corry pitched the full six innings for the Parks but lost the battle in the sixth inning when the miners min-ers put across eight runs to take the lead. Line score of the game is as follows: Utah Parks 0 1 4 2 0 07 Construction 0 3 0 8 1 x 12 In Tuesday evening's game, behind be-hind the pitching of Art Pryor, the Parks nine pounded out the first victory for that team in three starts after winning the first half in a breeze. Endsley and Sargent again did the pitching pitch-ing chores for Utah Construction. Construc-tion. A high scoring affair saw both teams collect an unusual number of hits in the high scoring scor-ing 17 to 12 game. Kenneth Jones, power hitter for the Parks pounded out a home run during the six inning fracas. It is expected that the Pony league, which is five games be- hind because of inclement weather, wea-ther, will double up games during dur-ing the next two or three weeks in order to bring the schedule up to date. Regularly scheduled games, however, will be played ias shown on the recreation area schedule above. |
