Show Housewives Advised On Buying Of Quality Turkeys As the Utah mid-summer time campaign got under way, Dail A. Prows, Salina, president of the Utah Turkey Federation warned shoppers against unscrupulous merchants "who sell low quality birds as top grade merchandise". "Be sure the turkeys you buy are identified according to grade as required by the State Board of Agriculture", Declared Mr. Prows. "Insist that the merchant identify the grade of every turkey tur-key you buy." He added that in recent campaigns some unscrupulous unscru-pulous merchants have willfully misled the customer by selling to him poor quality turkeys which supposedly were "grade A or grade B". He cautioned against so-called "bargain buys" in which the turkey price is ridiculously ri-diculously low and again advised ad-vised shoppers to ask for grade identification in every case. "Most merchants are cooperating cooperat-ing with us to bring the public good, top quality turkeys," said Mr. Prows. "The consumer will find the price of these birds generally gen-erally very favorable." He advised ad-vised shoppers to look for well-fleshed well-fleshed turkeys with a smooth, creamy appearance and without bruises. In commenting on this year's crop which Is starting to market mar-ket now Mr. Prows said the "birds this year are the best we've ever had. There's been plenty of good feed and the turkeys tur-keys are fleshed out well." Although Al-though this year's turkey crop will be smaller than last year's, the turkey Industry official indicated indi-cated there will be plenty of all sizes for Utah housewives to .choose from during the midsummer mid-summer offer. |
