Show CSU Dormitory Plans Approved; Bids Call Imminent After months of delay, government, govern-ment, approval for the construction construc-tion of a new 200-man dormitory at the College of Southern Utah was received yesterday and steps were taken immediately for the calling of bids on the new structure. struc-ture. The State Building Board has indicated that bids will be opened on the new building on Sept. 3, and it Is expected that -construction can be under way before the first of October. The new building is designed to provide housekeeping quarters for 200 men students, and will be financed under a self liquidating plan, it is understood. Plans for the structure have been prepared by L. Robert Gardner, Cedar City Architect. The total construction cost has been estimated at approximately ap-proximately $200,000. The building will be located on the college campus, immediately immed-iately south of the CSU memorial mem-orial fieldhouse. If construction can get under way early this fall the dormitory should be ready rea-dy for use on the opening of the 1954 school year. Officials at the college state that as soon as the new dormitory dormi-tory is completed it is planned to remove the trailer village north of the fieldhouse and use that area as a parking lot to accommodate crowds attending functions at the fieldhouse. |
