Show Proclamation Sets Paro wan Area Deer Take at 600; Boundaries Set According to the Utah 1953 Deer Hunting proclamation issued is-sued two weeks ago by the , Board of Big Game control, 450 antlerless deer are to be taken from the Parowan area which has been designated as Hunting Unit No. 57 by the board. These deer are to be taken on special permits during the regular doer hunting season, Oct. 17 to 27. An additional 150 deer of either sex are to be taken from the j same area during four post-sea-1 son hunts to be held on four week ends, Nov. 14 15, Nov. 21 22, Nov. 28 29 and Dec. 5 - 6 according ac-cording to the proclamation. These hunts will be held within the area of the Parowan Hunting Unit No. 57, with the game war-. war-. (Jen in charge of the unit to set the area for each week end hunt. The proclamation sets the boundaries of the Parowan hunting hunt-ing unit as follows: That area bounded on the north by State Highway 20, (Bone Hollow-Bear Valley road); on the south by State Highway 14, (Cedar-Long Valley road); on the east by Highway 89, and on the west by Highway 91 from the junction of Utah State Highway 20 south to Parowan, thence west to the Cedar-Lund highway (along the Parowan "Y" road), thence southeasterly south-easterly to Cedar City. Inside this area has been made two special permit areas, A, Par-agonah Par-agonah -Cottonwood from which 300 antlerless deer will be taken, and area B, Parowan, from which 150 antlerless deer will be taken. Boundaries of Paragonah-Cotton-wood area are as follows: Beginning at junction of 91 and Bear Valley road, thence east along Bear Valley road to junction junc-tion of Bone Hollow road, thence northeasterly on Cox ranch road to Fremont road, thence west along Fremont road to Highway 91, thence south to point of beginning. be-ginning. Boundaries of Parowan unit are as follows: Beginning at the junction of highway 91 and Bear Valley road, thence east along Bear Valley road to the Horse Valley road, and to Horse Valley peak, thence southerly along the divide to Brian Head peak, thence south along Cedar Breaks national monument boundary' to Midway, thence west down Ce-Idar Ce-Idar Canyon to Cedar City, thence northerly along Highway 91 to point of beginning. That area lying ly-ing within the boundaries of Cedar Ce-dar Breaks National Monument are closed to hunting. Sale of permits for the above and all other special permit areas will be on a first come-first come-first served basis, to holders of 1953 Big Game Hunting License. Sale of these special permits will start on September 7, 1953 and the sale will continue until all permits are sold or until the deer hunting season is over in each area. Sales offices will be in the county courthouses with the permits for the Parowan Unit No. 57 to go on sale at the Iron County courthouse here on Sept. 7, according to the proclamation. |
