Show 4-H Clubs Begin Outing At Duck Creek Today (Thursday) approximately approxim-ately 5."0 4-H club members representing rep-resenting 08 groups in Iron County Coun-ty will complete registration and begin a three-day encampment at the Duck Creek recreation area under the direction of the Iron County extension service. This morning the registration of the encampment will be completed com-pleted and the first order of business bus-iness to be handled at the first business session at 2 p. m. will be the election of camp officers. Voting will take place for the positions po-sitions of camp mayor and scribe. Following the elections the youngsters will return to their various campo in preparation for the campfire program at 7:30 this evening. At the campfire program the 4-Ilcrs will participate partici-pate in group singing, songs and skits. Friday, Aug. 7 the clubs will be divided into three color groups to participate in handicraft, forestry for-estry and recreational periods throughout the day. The day long program begins with a flag raising program and group sing-in sing-in at 7:30 a. m. Following this the groups will divide into the three color groups, red, blue and green and participate in the various var-ious activities of the day. At 7:30 in the evening the youngsters will meet again at the campfire program for skits and the candle can-dle lighting ceremony. Saturday, Aug. 8 again at 7:30 a. m. the flag raising ceremony will start the activities which will include an assembly of all participants for the annual Log Saving contest, group singing and the presentation of awards for the encampment. At 12 noon a lunch will be held after which the 68 clubs will break camp to return to their homes. Directly in charge of the encampment en-campment will be Stephen L. ! Brower, county agent; Fern John-son, John-son, home demonstration agent for Iron County, and David Sharp, Jr., state youth supervisor who will be in attendance at the three-day affair. |
