Show Cedar Church, Civic Leader To Celebrate Birthday y X Mrs. Violet Lunt Urie will be honored on her 80th birthday anniversary an-niversary Sunday, Aug. 9. Friends and family members are invited to an informal reception to honor hon-or Mrs. Urie between 5 p. m. and 8 p. m. at the L D S Institute. Insti-tute. Hostesses at the reception will be nieces of Mrs. Urie. Mrs. Urie has taken an active part in civic and church affairs all of her life. She was president of the Primary Association for many years, and has been an officer and teacher in other auxiliary aux-iliary organizations. She has been prominent in musical groups, having been a member of stake and ward choirs. Mrs. Urie has been affectionately known as "Aunt Voil", and has contributed in many ways to the welfare of the community. She has given much service at the time of sickness and death in many homes. She was "mother" to many of the state's prominent educators and graduates of the BNS BAC, who stayed in her home while they were in Cedar City. She was born in Cedar City Aug. 10, 1873, a daughter of Henry Hen-ry and Mary Ann Wilson Lunt, early southern Utah pioneers. She married John Urie in the St. George L D S temple. He died several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Urie reared two children, Dan Clark, now of Ely Nev., and the late Romona Clark Fife, who were orphaned while very young. |
